Advent and Christmas Services at St John's

As the Anglican church in Cardiff City Centre we have a range of services during Advent and Christmas.

There is a special Advent Carol service on Advent Sunday. On the last two Saturdays before Christmas there are short carol services for shoppers and also a German Lutheran Carol service. There are services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Advent Sunday (1st December)
As usual our main weekly Holy Communion service will be at 10am and will last around 70 mins. At 6pm we will have a service of Advent Carols and Readings by Candlelight. This lasts for around an hour.

Shoppers Carols and German Lutheran Carols
On the two Saturdays before Christmas (14th and 21st December) there will be a short Carols for Shoppers service. This starts at 2pm and lasts around 20 minutes. On the same two Saturdays we will host a German Lutheran Carol service at 3pm. This usually lasts around 30 minutes.

Christmas Eve (Tuesday lunchtime)
There will be a Holy Communion service at 12.30pm. Everyone is welcome but it may be particularly helpful for anyone who is unable to come to The First Eucharist of Christmas or a service on Christmas Day.

The First Eucharist of Christmas (often known as Midnight mass)
We will celebrate the First Eucharist of Christmas at 11pm at St John's. There is often a very special atmosphere in this night-time service. It usually lasts around 70 minutes.

Christmas Day
Our main Holy Eucharist service will be at the regular time of 10am. This usually lasts around 70 minutes.
There will be no Evensong Service on Christmas night.
