Safeguarding at St John's

We take Safeguarding seriously at St John's.

For us, Safeguarding is not about ticking boxes, it is about how we treat each other and how we try to establish relationships which mirror the Kingdom of God.

We seek to create a church community where everyone can flourish and grow and where everyone is safe. The Church in Wales has a phrase 'If it isn't safe; it isn't church'.

We have policies but Safeguarding is about more than policies. We try to watch out for and to protect each other. We care for each other. For reference, the Church in Wales Safeguarding Policy can be found
here.

If you have a concern or a question, you can speak with our Safeguarding Officer, Debbie Roberts if she is in St John's at the same time as you are. Or you can speak with our vicar The Rev'd Canon Sarah Jones, or e mail her by

We are an Inclusive Church. We welcome people across the spectrum of sexuality and gender. We recognise that being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community can make some people more vulnerable than their straight and cis-gendered siblings. We do understand many of these issues and we would like to reassure you that LGBTQIA+ people are welcome and safe at St John's. If you are a member of the LGBTQIA+ community or you have concerns about someone who is, please be assured that our commitment to safeguarding applies equally to straight/cis-gendered people and to LGBTQIA+ folks.
